The Ride
This build was based on Clayton Kraatz Evolution Warthog. I have been a fan of the Warthog for many years now and was impressed with the amazing tube work. I had come to the conclusion that I must try and reproduce the Warthog in a rc version, but after many failed attempts of trying to build a Warthog in a 2.2 class I almost gave up... Enter Ecoli (Chris)

I had seen some of Chris's early tube chassis work and liked what I saw, after telling him what I wanted he agreed to give it a try. It was up to me to provide the pictures & blue prints, after a stop over at the Evolution shop I ended up with two dozen pictures of the BEAST. With so many pictures at different angles of the Warthog I sent them to Chris.
The next month and a half a new creature was born, " The Piglet ". This mini monster is 1/8th the Warthogs size and just as cool, 70-80 feet of 3/16 tubing was used and was brazed using Silver solder. It may be smaller then the 1:1 but is just strong, in fact is can support a 218lb man!
Both the Warthog and Piglet have four wheel steering, amazing amounts of flex, insane power and are driven by wild men. The Piglet is not just a Rock Crawler, it will be used for rock races, jumps and speed.
The Piglet performs perfectly for its size and is a force to be reckoned with. Hope fully the Piglet will get to tour with the Warthog at up coming events.
I can not thank Chris (Ecoli) enough for making this possible, with out his amazing tuber skills the Piglet would still be a pile of bent tubing sitting in my work shop. |
